All through the novel, Camus invites the reader to produce and become the awareness of Meursault. Meursault takes the posture of merely narrating this observation, without trying to generate a rational account from them. That is the absurdity of life as Camus and his protagonist view. Without a doubt, what Meursault relates are just facts. Meursault records facts, without connotations; he lacks the attitude of harmony and stability that distinguishes a human. Through overview, the reader connects the details of Meursault’s life. Meursault is a disconnected from other people he embodies a detachment which presents in his work life when he upsets his boss with his lack of feelings:

‘You’re young, and it seems to me it’s the kind of life that would appeal to you.’  I said yes but that really it was all the same to me.  Then he asked me if I wasn’t interested in a change of life.  I said that people never change their lives, that in any case, one life was as good as another and that I  wasn’t dissatisfied with mine here at all.  He looked upset and told me that I never gave him a straight answer, that I had no ambition, and that this was disastrous in business.  So I went back to work.

Just like Meursault Camus, too, saw life as absurd. At the end of The Stranger, Meursault discovers in a burst of insight that the world has no meaning and there is no God to give it one. With Meursault becomes nearly like Jesus, with elegance descending upon him as he waits for execution.
