Salvador Dali’s full name was Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dali Domènech. He was a Spanish artist and became one of the most famous painters of the twentieth century. He was a surrealist and his work is symbolized by unusual, fantastic, unreal images it is said that he was influenced by Renaissance painters. His best-known work, The Persistence of Memory, was completed in 1931. In addition to painting, he did sculptor, theater movies and even a cartoon with Walt Disney.

Dali’s childhood was influenced by events that shaped his personality and work psychologically. He was named after his brother, who died before Dali was born and Dali was named after him.  He was possessed by the reality of his alter ego and fought to prove that he existed and was not a shadow of his brother. (Martinez-Herrera, 2003) His father was a well-known lawyer and was a strict disciplinarian, while his mother encouraged his talent. (Saladyga, 2006)

Dali first studied at the cole des Beaux-Arts in Madrid and was inspired by Metaphysical painters de Chirico and Carra while there. Similarly, he was a great admirer of the realism of the Pre-Raphaelites and French 19th-century painters; he began to combine abstract styles and methods. Beginning in 1927, Dali presented in Madrid and Barcelona, and at that time was considered to be one of the rising painters of his generation. In Paris in 1928 he came into contact with Picasso and other surrealists; his subsequent exhibition brought Dali decisively into the Surrealist movement where he ruled for the next ten years.
