Psychology is the study of human and animal behavior. There are various perspectives within psychology and the upcoming paragraphs deal with 3 psychological perspectives; humanistic, psychodynamic and behavioral.

All three perspectives try to understand behavior and make use of varying techniques in order to do so. Each perspective tries to search for answers to different questions which exist about behavior. Each of these perspectives is different and hence has its own reasoning and explanation. Among the perspectives of psychology, some have been accepted by many whereas others have had difficulty in being accepted.

The humanistic perspective was developed by Abraham Maslow and Carl Rogers, the Psychodynamic perspective was developed by Erik Erikson and Sigmund Freud and John B. Watson developed the Behavioral perspective of psychology.

The psychodynamic perspective focuses primarily on the activity of the unconscious mind. This approach suggests that normal, as well as abnormal behavior, is determined by the unconscious forces which govern our mind (David and Palladino).

The behavioral perspective focuses on behaviors which can be observed. However, it does not focus much on cognitive processes such as thinking (Davis and Palladino). It also tries to understand how various types of behavior take place.
