The purpose of this memo is to propose a collaborative effort to develop a professional learning community to strengthen curricular learning efforts and foster exceptional teaching practice. The following paper is intended to summarize the characteristics of continuous school improvement and recommend strategies for achieving shared goals, collaborative problem solving, learner-centered classrooms and methods for assessing student learning to improve instruction.
School’s strengths lies within teacher knowledge. Now it is time for teachers to build on that strength to develop strategies for learning new concepts and determine the best ways to use that knowledge to meet the needs of students to improve learning. This could be achieved by collaborating with other teachers and staff. We are developing a network of faculty and staff in order to provide support to others.
We want the teacher to improve the level of collaboration if they commit themselves to creating professional learning communities. Professional learning communities allow teachers to access valuable information to be used to inform teaching practice. A commitment to the learning community will ensure that one is an active contributor and participant to assist in the creation of a rich community of practice.
